Getting the chop

I went from very long hair to a short bob in just one appointment with my hairdresser Stacey 5 years ago, when I was 34. Stacey also gave me a more natural colour – I love it and felt like a different person and very confident when leaving the salon. I’m totally loyal to Daniel Granger Hairdressing. I am really fussy when it comes to my hair so when you find someone great you don’t want to let go.

The little touches

It’s the little things I love most – the drinks I’m constantly being offered, the amazing massage chairs (which turn on when your hair is being washed) and the head massages. I’ve made real friends here too with some of the stylists, I was so excited to tell Stacey about my pregnancy. As soon as I passed the first 12 weeks, I messaged her, I couldn’t wait until my appointment to tell her, I wanted her to hear it directly from me, and it was really special.

Hair to come

I’ve spoken to Stacey about how my hair might change when the twins arrive – some women get hair loss for example. I also didn’t know what I could and could not have done to my hair while expecting. I’ve had colour, but only on my roots for example.

Parking

People often ask me where I park when I visit the salon. In the evenings I park out the front in the designated bays,  but most of the time I park in the small carpark between Abington Street and St Giles Street, near H&M. If I’m running late and worried my parking might expire, one of the team always pops out to top up the parking monitor. Once I mentioned I was hungry, and my lunch order was added to the salon’s shopping list.

Mum’s the word

My pregnancy has been quite a difficult experience for me, I’m constantly tired and not feeling my best self. As a first-time mum, I want to keep myself as stress free as possible, for the sake of my babies, and that why I get my hair done at the salon. It’s that time to pamper and destress myself, and I will be making the time for this even once the babies are here. I’m hoping the stylists will be up for a bit of babysitting and the odd cuddle.
